Simple Guide to Solemnization Procedure in Singapore

Planning to ROM soon and not sure what you and partner should be doing first. When to file your application, Following is a simple step by step guide on the solemnization procedures in Singapore.

Step 1: You need to decide your Solemnization date and time
First and foremost, decide the date and time of your solemnization. Bear in mind, the earliest date of your solemnization is 21 days after the you file the notice at Registry of Marriage. For example, if you file your notice on 30 January, the earliest date solemnization date is 21 February.

The last date of your solemnization is before the end of 3 months after you file the notice (excluding the day on which you file the notice). For example, if you file your notice on 30 January, the last solemnization date is 30 April.

Step 2: You need to decide your Solemnization Venue

With the chosen date and time, start hunting for your solemnization venue, as long as yours is not a hot date, booking of solemnization venue should not be that challenging. If you are planning to do it outside, you need to Click Here to Download ‘Solemnizer Consent form and obtain his/her signed consent.

Step 3: You need to find a solemnizer

With the chosen date, time and venue, start looking for your solemnizer. If your solemnization venue is outside the ROM, remember to complete the Solemnizer Consent Form.

Step 4: After you complete 1 to 3, You can now File notice of marriages

You can only file notice of marriages through Register of marriages E-filing webpage . Click Here to Access

You need to get ready the following before proceed:

  • Credit card (cashcard/NETS only at the ROM).
  • NRIC (for citizens and SPRs) or Passport (for foreigners) of groom, bride and 2 witnesses above 21 years old.
  • Consent form duly signed by your solemnizer (if solemnization is outside ROM).
  • Printer (you will need to print the payment receipt and ‘Summary of Notice of Marriage’ at the end of online filing. The ‘Summary of Notice of Marriage’ contain all the important instructions, especially on when to go to the ROM for VD/SD, what to bring for VD/SD and solemnization, etc.

At the end of the transaction, you will need to print the payment receipt and ‘Summary of Notice of Marriage’ containing important information including the date and time (which is strictly by appointment) to appear at the ROM for verification of documents and statutory declaration.
